Mobile Physio

Mobile Physio is older than the NHS!

When Lady Daphne Heald, who lived at Chilworth Manor, heard that there were no physiotherapy services for the rural villages of South West Surrey, in typical Lady Heald fashion, she gathered some like-minded friends and set about creating South West Surrey Mobile Physiotherapy Service “to meet the needs of those who would otherwise, for various reasons, be deprived of treatment”.

Much has changed since 1947 but we are delighted that the successors at Chilworth Manor, have maintained the link with Mobile Physio and continued to support our work. Although we currently receive a certain amount of funding to treat patients at Shere, Horsley and Send surgeries we also provide an important service beyond the NHS remit; treating the elderly and housebound in their own homes. To achieve this we rely heavily on donations and on fundraising activities such as this Garden Party at Chilworth Manor.

Chilworth CofE Infant School

Chilworth Infant School is a wonderful environment for children to start their school journey. Set in a beautiful location with the backdrop of St. Martha's Hill, the school has extensive grounds, whilst offering a wide range of stimulating outdoor environments which are utilised in all weathers!   It is a friendly, caring community which provides an excellent education in this Ofsted Outstanding school.

We have 2 exciting outdoor projects which we will use the Picnic & Pimm's proceeds towards. We are hoping to replace our 20 year old playground equipment (see photo) this summer with a new wooden trim trail and play frame, including an all-weather safety surface (see artist impression). The new surface would mean that the children could access the play equipment all year round. The equipment is joined together in a flowing trail, which uses many different movement types to stretch the children mentally and physically, including traverse wall panels, rope bridges and a balance beam. The play frame has 3 towers, bridges, scramble net, a slide and a shop role play panel underneath. The other outdoor project is to have a storage garage built on the playground, for easy access to the children's’ trikes and bikes, other playground and Forest School equipment.

Cherry Trees

Cherry Trees is a small charity based in East Clandon (Surrey), providing home from home specialist short breaks for children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of disabilities including learning, physical and sensory impairments.  Founded in 1980 by a group of parents and doctors, Cherry Trees has been successfully supporting families for 36 years. We provide high quality services within a relaxed, caring environment.  Cherry Trees fulfils a critical service in addressing the needs of the children and parents it supports and is a lifeline for the families.  Our objectives are to reach out to as many families as possible, to help prevent family breakdown, enable young people to progress and for families to be fully integrated in the local community.

Cherry Trees offers tea breaks through various packages, one being our parental programme.  Last year we provided over 570 tea visits.  A tea visit consists of a 2 or 3 hours stay.  The child can be picked up from school so to lengthen the day for the parents, or dropped round to us.  For our children it is the equivalent of going to a friend’s house for tea after school.  We make it a fun and relaxed stay – playing games, getting out into the garden on nice days, sharing interests, having fun in our ball park and then sitting down to tea scrumptious home cooked tea.

The money raised with Picnic & Pimms  will go towards our parental programme and your support will be helping lots of families to get that extra few hours to work, run a few errands, give time to other siblings or just catch breath for a few moments.  Thank you for your support.
